Level 1 - Good Dog Manners 101
Good Dog Manners is more than dog training. It’s a comprehensive look at how to get your puppy/dog to develop basic good dog behaviors. This class is open to all ages because regardless of age the fundamentals of Good Dog Manners 101 apply. We have been told that our beginner program is very detailed and goes far beyond other beginner training programs.
 
Here is an overview of our Good Dog Manners 101 class:
·         Week 1 – How dogs learn, think and establishing leadership and building attention and focus using the “Name Game”
·         Week 2 – Leash Manners and moving attention and focus
·         Week 3 – Get your dog to come to you in even the toughest situations
·         Week 4 – Sit and how to train your dog so they understand to sit the first time you say it and hold it until released
·         Week 5 – Down and how to train your dog so they understand the difference between lay down and the floor and stop jumping on you
·         Week 6 – Putting it all together and review of the first 5 weeks of learning
·         Week 7 – Individual critique and progress report along with recommended level 2 classes
 
From the first week to the final week you’ll see a marked difference in your dog and the others in class. It’s so fun to see the transition as everyone in class applies the class lessons to real life and have a better dog for it!
 
Our Good Dog Manners class is limited to 6 dogs and there are often times 2 instructors. Everyone is comfortable and gets plenty of help with training exercises.

Level 2 - Canine Good Citizen Class
Once you’ve completed our level 1 class, Good Dog Manners 101 this program refines what you’ve learned and proofs your dog’s manners with more distractions and real life scenerios. What you’ve learning Good Dog Manners is now refined through additional exercises, adding distractions and switching from luring to rewarding with treats. To learn more about the AKC Canine Good Citizen program visit http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/training_testing.cfm. Every dog can be a Canine Good Citizen with a little SPOT training and leadership from their owner! Once you pass the Canine Good Citizen training you and your dog receive a certification from the AKC and it’s open to ALL BREEDS; mixed or purebred. In addition this class will give you the knowledge and testing requirements to obtain your therapy dog certification from Therapy Dogs International (www.tdi-dog.org).
Here are just some of the things you’ll learn in our Canine Good Citizen class:
1.       Sit politely while a stranger approaches and has a conversation with you.
2.
       Passes by another dog and owner and stays will you on a loose leash.
3.
       Walk through a crowd of people and dogs and stays with you on a loose leash.
4.
       Stays with a stranger for a few minutes while you leave the room and waits patiently for you to return.
5.
       Accepts a stranger handling their feet, looking in their ears, brushing them and petting them.
6.
       Confidence around medical equipment (i.e. wheelchairs)
 
Days/Times: Wednesdays at 6:00pm and Saturdays at 10:30am **You can come to EITHER class or BOTH…that’s the great thing about CGC. You have 12 weeks to use your sessions.
